to steal your identity. But is it possible to steal your identity?
Yes, identity theft occurs when someone without your prior permission
uses your personal information such as your name, Social Security
Number, Credit Card Number or other identifying information
to commit fraud or other crimes.
The identity theft creates a misery to the customer for a long
time to get back his/her previous reputation. Consumers whose

There are different steps to safeguard your identity theft:
Protect your Social Security Number
You should carry your insurance cards separately. Don’t
carry any such copy in which your social security number is
written. You should not disclose your security number to anybody
if necessary then you can give only last 4 digits of your
social security card.
Protect your Credit Cards
Keep on carrying your credit cards separately from your wallet.
Make sure that your credit card is not mingled with other
cards in your wallet. If you have any question regarding credit
card report or other credit card related queries don’t
forget to send a letter by registered post. Your entire account
number as well as in the case of receiving new cards make
a note of all numbers and keep it in a secured place. Never
throw your rejected credit card in common accessing places.
Destroy your account number printed on the credit card if
that get damaged.
Protect your ATM/Debit card:
Make sure your monthly statement of ATM/Debit cards is correct
to your knowledge. You should check your account details frequently.
Beware of suspicious persons. Don’t carry your pin number
of your ATM/Debit card with you. You should not leave ATM
receipt rather destroy it.
Protect your Financial Documents:
Financial documents that have no further relevance of keeping
better them to tear up. Never carry your debit or credit card
unless your have a requirement. Carrying identifying documents
are also risky.
